To answer one visitors legitimate question, regarding the 1880 Census in Ash Meadows, present day Ash Meadows was not even part of Nevada when Nevada was formed. It would be 1866 before the lower point of present day Nevada would be separated from Arizona to become part of Nevada.
[1] Most of that lower point would become Lincoln County, named after President Abraham Lincoln.
[2] It was in 1909, when Lincoln County was broken up to form Clark County, that Lincoln County became the much smaller County it is today.
[3] Hence present day Ash Meadows was originally in Lincoln County Nevada, as reflected in the 1880 Census.
